Savour

Listen to the wind,
it has secrets to share.

Watch the clouds move,
they have poems to shed.

Smell earth’s rich gifts,
they speak in parables.

Taste the sweet freshness,
it is honey unchained.

Touch the lake of longing,
hunger is belonging.

Noticing

You look out of the window
and notice a cat
all clad in black
elegant in stature
regal in presence
questioning you
as if to say
“What are you doing here?”
This is a question
you often ask of yourself.
Any answers that arrive
soon slide into
life’s minutiae.
Meanwhile
the sleek trespasser
trots off nonchalantly
a riddle in motion
and you settle down
quite contentedly
to your third cup of tea
on a deliciously
whimsical day.
