Begin

There is a music to Spring
that fills the heart
with joy and juice
and heavenly hope

There is a boon to Spring
that lifts the mind
with visions that sing
rippling in bliss

There is a thrill to Spring
that startles the limbs
a riot of colour
stunned by the sun

There is a growth to Spring
freshening the spirit
casting off shadows
leap and begin.

Awe

If you stand still, breathe deeply
and look at the world around
you, a calm contentment will enter
your soul. The thrill of being alive,
the hum of everyday life, the smile
of a stranger walking by, the laughter
of children embracing the moment,
the jackdaws chattering in the brilliant
blue sky, the hugs freely dispensed.
Succumb to the wonder. When you
step out of yourself, the world is a
gift full of promise and possibility.
Joy falls in a cascade of light.

Love Letters

Numerous are the days in which you startle my spirit.
Countless are the hours when you dazzle my eyes.
Myriad are the minutes whereby you colour my thoughts.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Solace

When sadness splinters the house of joy
and the world weighs heavy on your heart
swim beyond the sticky prison of thought
discard threadbare views, dismiss old ideas
step out of the dusty ravine of your mind
and leap into the brimming bowl of Spring.
Fill your life with blossoming things
flowers seeking the sun
trees hugging the wind
birds courting the sky.
Earth’s embrace flares with grace
seeds of belonging coalesce
and the spirit dares to sing.

Haiku

Visions float free
on a mountain’s vertex
rinsed into vigour

That Time

That time, that time

How sweet does it rhyme

When we lay together

Your lips

Swallowing deep

My tongue mining for pearls

The blinds open to light

And the embrace yielding

To tears.

That time, misted in wine,

Do longings ever decline?

Ridge

Roaring winds sharpen the senses

In a swell of surging fury –

Drifting, shifting, sifting;

Gladdened hands offer prayers

Enveloped in mists of love.

Desire

I want to plant laughter
                all over your body
I want to explore you
                for the riches you possess.
I want to touch you
                beneath starlight and moonlight
I want to read you
                with feverish intent.
I want to give you
                my tongue and my tears
I want our selves
                never to relent.
I want to taste you
                our longings undressed
I want to kiss you
                 and never repent.
I want to feel you
                 moving within
I want us to wonder
                            skin to skin.

At The Game

Anfield, Home of Liverpool F.C.

The pulse of the game

The clamour of crowds

The thrill of neat skill

It is this we come for

The throb of the chant

The hush of the lull

The roars that soar

It is this we come for

The crash of the seats

The stomp of the feet

The joy that flows

It is this we come for

The glow of the goal

The tingle like love

The prospect of more

It is this we come for

It is this we come for.
