Meditation 69: Adventure

To be a rock
to be a sponge
to be an anchor
to be a refuge
to be a mast
you need to set sail
and take the plunge.

To Be With You

To be with you in constant conversation.”
(Rumi)

To be with you on a mountain
watching the sunset;
To be with you in comfort,
cravings undressed.
To be with you on a beach
hugging the waves;
To be with you in fervour
feeding the gaze.
To be with you in flesh
mapping new worlds;
To be with you from afar,
burning like stars.
To be with you in rapture,
a daily delight;
To be with you in prayer,
nourishing the soul.
To be with you in silence
stirred by the verve;
To be with you in passion,
a tango of tongues.
To be with you in spirit
courting the call;
To be with you on earth,
enchanted by it all.
To be with you in thought,
spelling new rhymes;
To be with you forever,
riding the sunrise.

Meditation 28: Spirit

This is from my collection,”52 Meditations”, which you can buy here.

There may be a lot of chaos, discord, greed and injustices raging across the planet, but it is my fervent belief that there is plenty of goodness and beauty to savour and help encourage, if we take time to listen to the spirit within.

As Rumi said, “Flow down and down in always widening rings of being.” When our minds, hearts and bodies are alert and open to life’s manifold possibilities, how much richer we become – spiritually, emotionally, physically – and how radiant the world glows.

Let radiance be your daily bread.

We Only Have The One Life

We only have the one life,
Why the fever and the fret?
When our duty is to love
And kiss before sorrows set.

We only have the one life
To touch and explore and dream;
Body revealed, mind-lamps lit,
Tanned in the unceasing gleam.

We only have the one life,
So no need to drown and frown;
Joy is there to be savoured
If wanting looks up not down.

I Want to Know

I want to know the joy of how you laugh

I want to know the way in which you dance

I want to know the joy of how you move

This need to know I cannot leave to chance

I want to know the beauty of your style

I want to know the kindness that you wield

I want to know the grace that gives you charm

This need to know protects me like a shield

I want to know the song of how you sing

I want to know the wisdom of your talk

I want to know that it doesn’t matter

This need to know follows me as I walk

I want to know your gentle breath at night

I want to know how you withstand the fears

I want to know the essence of your touch

This need to know is love that dries the tears.

(After reading Rumi’s line: “I want to know the joy of how you whisper”)
